Uniform Dress Code
Carnegie's uniform dress code specifies
that each child will wear the school uniform. Girls will wear dark
blue skirts, jumpers, or slacks with a yellow blouse and blue criss-cross
tie. Boys will wear dark blue slacks with a yellow shirt and a dark
blue tie. Blue sweaters, yellow or blue socks (or tights) and dark
dress shoes (NO GYM SHOES) complete the uniform. Students generally
conduct themselves in a manner similar to the way they dress and
groom. Any type of dress or grooming which is disruptive will not
be permitted. Shorts are not allowed for either boys or girls. Earrings
in boys' ears are not allowed. Long gold or silver chains with different
paraphernalia worn outside of the shirt or blouse will be confiscated
and returned to the parents. Hats, caps or hair rollers are not
to be worn in school.

Principal's Scholars
The Principal's Scholars is an incentive
program that rewards academic and social excellence. To achieve
this exceptional status, students must meet strict criteria.
Their report cards must reflect all A's and B's, perfect attendance,
and no checks. Additionally, students; records must have no
discipline reports or suspensions. All Principal's Scholars
are rewarded handsomely with a field trip which included breakfast,
lunch and many fun activities. They also receive prize, certificates,
and ribbons. Further recognition includes posting their names
on the achievement board in the main hallway of the school. |

Discipline Policy
Acts of misconduct described in the
Chicago Public schools Uniform Discipline Code include inappropriate
and/or illegal student behaviors which disrupt or seriously disrupt
the orderly educational process occurring in the classroom, the
school building, and/or on the school grounds. When a student
participates in an act of misconduct the following steps will be
followed:
1) Parents contacted by phone and/or Discipline Report sent to parent.
The Discipline Report Form must be signed and returned to
the school.
2) If the behavior persists, a conference will be held
with the parent, teacher, pupil and principal or designee, to explain
school rules and to discuss proper behavior. Adherence to school
rules will be stressed and agreed upon by both parent and child.
3) If the pupil continues to cause serious disruption, a suspension
for an appropriate amount of time will be given. The Uniform Discipline
Code will be followed and enforced.
